Deity Danes Buyer Contract
**The following items will be provided with each puppy:**
1. Record of shots and Worming (s) 2. Pedigree of Sire, with pictures, when/if available. 3. A copy of Sale Agreement, and an information packet 4. The assurance, that Seller will gladly welcome any call, 24 hours a day, if help/guidance is needed, or questions need to be asked. We stand behind our puppies, and our Buyers adoptees.
**The following items are your puppy parenting responsibilities: 1. Your pup deserves the opportunity to be the best family member he/she can be. All puppies should be obedience trained so they can be a canine companion that can go anywhere with you and fit into your lifestyle comfortably. This should be started immediately and should continue throughout the life of your dog. He/she will be the happiest if you are pleased with their behavior. Learn to communicate what you want in a positive and loving manner and your dog will respond. 2. It is your responsibility to ALWAYS provide adequate shelter, a soft bed, fresh water, high quality dog food and your love. Danes are sensitive and loving companion dogs. Your pup will achieve his/her potential under these circumstances. 3. If at any time during the dog's life you are unable to provide a proper home, for any reason, the dog to be returned to the breeder. 4. Call the breeder with any questions you may have during the life of your dog. We are here to provide support. 5. We really enjoy pictures. For your protection, Deity Danes will warrantee the health of this puppy for 1year, provided all shots & vet visits have been followed. Any pup that displays any genetic disease, will be replaced - no money shall be refunded!!!!!
You, the purchaser, should take your puppy to your veterinarian within the first 3 days, (preferably the 1st. day), and have him do a thorough health check at this time. If a puppy is found to have a genetic health problem within this period, Deity Danes will take the puppy back, and it will be replaced with another puppy of the same monetary value. A written document/X-ray from your Certified Veterinarian, stating what the health problem is, will be required.
ATTENTION!!!!!!!! We are very adamant, about telling each buyer, that until your puppy has had all his/her shots, they are left very vulnerable to anything that comes along - Taking your puppy to parks, letting them play with the neighbor’s dog, taking them to Pet Smart, etc. is leaving your puppy open to every disease, bacteria, parvo, distemper, or anything else comes along - cannot Stress this enough - It is a fact that few people heed, and this is the life and welfare of your puppy we are talking about!!! Keep your puppy home until ALL shots have been given. We will not take back a puppy that has become sick, because its owners didn’t care enough to keep their puppy safe. We cannot honor our contract if you, the buyer, do not care enough to take responsibility for the well-being of your puppy.
********EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW*******************
GDV: Bloat - is the number one killer of Great Danes & Great Danes are the #1 breed at risk for bloat. For reasons not fully understood, in certain deep-chested breeds in particular, the stomach distends, then has a tendency to rotate, which cuts off the blood supply to various parts of the body, as well as effectively shutting down digestion. This condition is extremely painful as well as a true emergency that is rapidly life-threatening. A dog with a bloated, twisted stomach (technically called "Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus") will die in great pain in a matter of hours unless drastic steps are taken: surgery is normally necessary. The reasons for GDV are currently not understood, however most would agree that multiple small meals per day and preventing vigorous exercise around mealtimes can help reduce the chances of bloat. Many breeders and owners of Great Danes consider a surgery called a prophylactic gastropexy ("preventative tack") which can help prevent some of the more serious aspects of GDV. Discuss this with your veterinarian and your Dane's breeder.
HOD, Pano, and OCD - Growing puppies between the ages of 8 weeks to 1 year can acquire bone development/growth problems IF NOT FED CORRECTLY. Foods with high levels of protein, and calcium should NOT be fed. There are several dog food manufacturers that have recognized the potential growth problems in giant breed puppies and are offering a "Large Breed Puppy" formula of their puppy foods. If there is no giant breed puppy formula available, buy the adult instead of the puppy formula. Some possible bone growth diseases that Danes can get are OsteochondritisDissecans (OCD) which can require surgical correction and is very painful; Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) which causes severe swelling of all the joints of the body, extreme pain, high fever, possible deformity and even death; anosteitis (Pano) is usually self-limiting and may not need treatment.
*If this puppy has deceased, the cause of death MUST be documented in writing by a veterinarian, and given to the seller.

If it is found that abuse, negligence or improper care, on the part of the Buyer, has caused this Dane’s death, Deity Danes will not be held liable, and charges of neglect will be brought against Buyer.

We encourage everyone to take their pup/adults to an obedience class, and for those that enjoy showing, enter your dogs in all that Obedience/Conformation has to offer. For those of you who have opened your home to a "conformation" show potential pup, we would love to see you show your pup, and we will give all the help/advice we can, along the way.

If ears are going to be cropped after time of purchase, Buyer will take full responsibility for condition of the ears. It is not guaranteed by the Seller, OR the vet/cropper that the ears will stand. We have only the best, and most experienced we can find, to do this job, as it is an art form. We cannot guarantee that the ears will stand, as some owners give up, and do not continue with taping the ears. IF, the aftercare is done diligently, and carefully, you should have beautiful standing ears. For a shorter crop, you can expect the ears to stand at around 6 months or so. The longer "show crop" will take longer, depending on thickness of cartilage, heat from the weather, and teething (which takes place around 6 months---Keep taping!!!!). For the long crop, depending on the above factors, the length of time for them to stand, will vary from 7 months, to a year or so---don’t give up!!
